Biography

As a conductor Pier Carlo Orizio has partnered legendary artists, such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Martha Argerich, Mikhail Pletnev, Sir James Galway, Rudolph Buchbinder, Boris Berezovsky, Mischa Maisky.

Born in Brescia in 1963, Pier Carlo Orizio graduated in piano under M° Sergio Marengoni and in conducting under M° Donato Renzetti. He also attended master classes held by Emil Tchakarov (Venice 1988) and Leonard Bernstein (Rome 1989).

In his conducting career, Pier Carlo Orizio has performed with some of the main European orchestras, among them we can list St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg soloist Salvatore Accardo, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra and Danish National Symphony Orchestra. With the Prague Philharmonia, maestro Orizio has recorded Beethoven’s first Concerto and Schumann’s A Minor Concerto, soloist Martha Argerich. A special relationship ties him to China, where he founded and was Artistic Director of the Beijing International Piano Festival. Since 2008 he has performed in concerts in the most important Chinese music halls with orchestras such as the Beijing Symphony and the Shenzhen Philarmonic Orchestra.

As a conductor, he has partnered legendary artists in some of the major European Festivals. In the list, we find for example Mstislav Rostropovich, Sir James Galway, Rudolph Buchbinder, Boris Berezovsky.

Pier Carlo Orizio is deeply interested in nowadays music and he has conducted scores of contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt, Sofia Gubaidulina, Kristof Penderecki (solo flute Massimo Mercelli), including world premieres by Giancarlo Facchinetti and Mauro Montalbetti.

In April 2018 Pier Carlo Orizio performed with the Russian National Orchestra in Moscow for the opening concert of the Rostropovich Festival, solo piano Mikhail Pletnev, and at the Royal Opera House of Muscat (Oman), solo violin Sergej Krylov. In July 2018 Orizio performed with Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, soloist Julian Rachlin e Mischa Maisky

In the forthcoming commitments Pier Carlo Orizio will perform with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
